Sarah Abusarar comes from a long line of storytellers on her father’s side of the family. Sarah has performed nationally and internationally at festivals, cultural centres, museums, art galleries, libraries, parks and homes. As she grew up in several countries, Sarah tells stories from all over the world with the focus on Palestinian and Croatian stories, where her roots lie. Her father is Palestinian and her mother is Croatian, she was born in Libya and lives in Canada! She tells stories to adults and children. Her favourite stories are ones that promote social change. Sarah has also used stories in a therapeutic way, with children in refugee camps as well as refugee children in Toronto, as part of their therapy. She also teaches stories at the Parent Child Mother Goose Program. Sarah tells stories so that she may go deep inside the tales to find herself in far away magical places, that she remembers, from long, long ago. “The Old Traveller” is a Croatian folktale, although it is also told more widely throughout Central and Eastern Europe.
