With a background in education, Dougie Mackay’s storytelling practice is steeped in group-work, development, connection and empowerment. Hailing from the Scottish Highlands, he comes from a lineage of natural storytellers, and is fascinated by the wild northern tales of Scotland, Scandinavia, Ireland, the Baltics and Siberia. Dougie also likes to pick up stories from places he’s visited such as India, West Africa, the United States, Canada, Romania, Norway, Italy, the Czech republic and Morocco. Dougie has a wide repertoire of tales and has become renowned for his warm demeanour and engaging style, with plenty of audience interaction and rhythmic accompaniment. Dougie particularly loves telling in unusual settings and often devises outdoor learning sessions with storytelling at their heart.
