The storyteller
Fiona Dowling is a French-Irish storyteller and visual artist, living and working in Dublin. She first attended a storytelling masterclass on Cape Clear Island in 2001, where she learned from some of the best Irish and international tellers. She then told in storytelling clubs before becoming a professional storyteller in 2007.
Fiona has since been a featured teller at many festivals including: the Cape Clear Storytelling Festival, Yarn Storytelling Festival, Bray, The Spirit of Folk Festival, Ballymun Intercultural Day, Paris Centre Culturel Irlandais, Clonmel Junction Festival, The Five Lamps Festival, Mohill Storytelling Festival, Learning Festival, Drogheda and Killruddery Enchanted Gardens Family Festival. Fiona was also a Storyteller-in-Residence for Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County.
More recently, she performed ‘Tales on Wheels’ a travelling show of Kamishibai Tales and ‘Wisdom Fair’ an interactive celebration of Wisdom Stories. Fiona is currently working on developing bilingual tales (in French and English) and on painting more Kamishibai stories.
