The Tale of Twelire
Andrew is just one of a handful of Ugandan artists working as professional and semi-professional storytellers. For the past seven years he has been telling stories in order to preserve and pass on wisdom and knowledge from one generation to the next. “In Uganda, folktales are shelved in the non-fiction section of the many public and home libraries. In schools they are filed under Social Studies. Yet these stories offer a window into our past, as well as a mirror to humanity, because universal concerns are reflected in these tales.” Andrew is also a creative arts business development consultant, and the founding director of House of Talent East Africa. Through his company he plans to organize an annual storytelling festival in his home city of Kampala.
